Burncoat Branch

January Branch Programs

This month at the Burncoat Branch you won't want to miss Garage Band: Digital Audio Design on January 4 and 11 at 3:30 p.m. Channel your inner DJ and drop a beat with GarageBand on our iPads! Learn about digital audio production and jam with friends or go solo to create a track. GarageBand is a user-friendly iOS software application that provides preset MIDI keyboards and loops to create a unique tune. No prior musical knowledge or technical savvy required. You can use a variety of the pre-made loops, or combine them with your own melodies and beats. Participants are encouraged to post their completed tracks on Worcester Public Library’s SoundCloud page. All materials provided; for children ages 8+.

Be sure to swing by for the brand new Wreck the Tech program on Thursday, Janaury 18 at 3:30 p.m. Take apart and see what’s inside CPUs, old-school landline phones, VHS tapes and more! We’ll identify different components of retired technology and learn about how technology evolved. Gloves and goggles will be provided, as well as all the tools we’ll need to tackle the technology.

Join the Worcester Historical Museum for a Valentine Workshop on Tuesday, January 30 at 3:30 p.m. Bill Wallace will teach us about Worcester’s history with valentines, then you can make your own unique valentine!

We'll also have Game On, Make and Take, and Construction Club!
