Loan and Renewal Policy

To make materials available to all library users on an equal basis, the Worcester Public Library (WPL) sets limits on loan periods and on the number of renewals allowed. Some library materials may have shorter loan periods, fewer numbers of renewals, or limited items of checkout due to high demand, limited collection size, material type or lending source.

1. The loan or renewal of library materials owned by WPL may be done in person, by telephone or online. See also Interlibrary Loan Policy for limits and regulations on items not owned by WPL.
2. Materials in Lost/Billed status are not renewable. Overdue fines due at the time of renewal are still due.
3. Renewals may be made in person, by telephone or online. Any item may be renewed 2 times.
4. A Library card holder with a balance greater than $10 may not check out materials.
5. Extended loan periods may be available upon request at the time of checkout.
6. In compliance with Massachusetts statute and the Library’s Privacy Policy, the Library will not provide information about a patron’s library record to anyone except the patron or by court order.
7. The library reserves the right to make some materials non-circulating and only available for inlibrary use.
