Library Closure FAQ

Reopening FAQ

Find the answers to the most common questions about library materials and resources, and limited service offerings due to COVID-19. Holds pickup is available at all locations; check out more information here. Note that you do not need an appointment for most services, but some locations have limited hours. We also encourage you to check out our array of online resources. We are here to help!

Do I need to make an appointment to use the library (e.g. to use a computer or pick up my holds)?

In general, no! However, due to limited space at the Frances Perkins Branch (508-799-1687) and Great Brook Valley Branch (508-799-1729), we ask that you call ahead to use a computer at those locations.

How do I return materials I have checked out?

Returns can be made as usual at the Main Library. Materials may be returned in the outside book returns at the Frances Perkins Branch at any time, or at the Great Brook Valley, Burncoat, Goddard, Roosevelt, or Tatnuck Magnet Branches during their regular service hours; let staff know you are returning materials so they may provide a bin to put them in.

I want to use my library card but don't know my PIN or password. Can I reset it?

Yes! At the top right of our webpage, you should see an "Account Login" link, or click here. Click on the "Forgot Your Password" link and enter your library card number or username, and if you have a valid email address associated with your account, you will receive an email with a link to reset your password. If you do not have an email address associated with your account or do not have access to the email associated with your account, call us at 508-799-1655 and select option 2 or come in to any library location during open hours.

My library card is expired, how do I unexpire it?

If your address has not changed, a librarian can renew your card by verifying your information via phone or chat. If you've moved, you will need to come in to any library branch with proof of your current address to unexpire your card.

I don’t have a library card but want to use library resources. What are my options?

You can apply for a library card online and pick it up in person during library hours, or apply in person. You will need proof of your current address to receive your card. To find out more about getting a library card click here.
