US Census 2020

The Census is a count of every person living in the United States, required by the Constitution, and done every 10 years. The census asks basic demographic questions about each household and the people who live there and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. For the first time in history, you will be able to fill out the 2020 Census online. Curious what to expect? How Do I Respond?

Beginning March 12, 2020, you will receive an invitation to respond in the mail from the US Census Bureau. This will contain a link for you to respond online and may also include a paper form. Once you receive this invitation, you can:
  • Respond online at my2020census.gov
  • Respond toll-free via phone at 844-330-2020
  • Return your paper form by mail
If you are not able to respond online or by phone and did not receive a paper form in the initial mailing, a paper questionnaire will be sent to you in the mail between April 8-16.

Your responses to the U.S. Census are confidential and cannot be shared with any other government agency, including law enforcement or immigration. Census Bureau employees take a lifetime oath to protect your information. Read more on this fact sheet.

Census Jobs

The Census Bureau is hiring temporary workers for many positions, including census takers and office staff. Pay for Worcester County begins at $22/hr. Visit the 2020 Census Jobs site for more information or to apply. Most jobs require a background check, access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license, and access to a computer with internet to complete training. Work-eligible non-citizens with needed language skills will be considered.
