March Meowness 2.0: Marchy-er and Meowy-er

March Meowness is back, and it’s furrier than ever! The Worcester Public Library is thrilled to announce the return of its viral, cat-themed initiative that took the world by storm in March of 2024. March Meowness 2.0: Marchy-er and Meowy-er kicks off on Saturday, March 1 and runs through Monday, March 31, bringing a month-long celebration of all things cat to every library location.

Building on last year’s purrfectly successful program, this year’s March Meowness is even bigger and better. Expect a lineup of cat-themed events and activities designed to entertain all ages, along with a unique opportunity to make a difference—simply by sharing cat pictures!

March Meowness: Share a Cat, Support Summer Fun!

The Worcester Public Library Foundation is turning cat pictures into summer smiles! For every cat picture received, the Foundation will donate $1 toward summer programming for all ages.

Purr-ticipate and Make a Difference!

Join the fun, spread some joy, and help us make this March Meowness the meowiest one yet!

  • Show us a cat! We’re accepting pictures of your cat, a famous cat, a shelter cat, or even a cat you’ve drawn! Honorary cats are also welcome—submit photos or drawings of dogs, raccoons, or even your favorite capybara!
  • Share your pic: Drop off your picture at any WPL location, email it to comms@mywpl.org, or share it on our social media.
  • Feel good, do good: Each picture helps fund exciting summer activities, bringing joy and learning opportunities to the community.
  • WPL will also be accepting donations of new, unexpired pet food at the Main Library, 3 Salem Square during the month of March. These donations will be collected and sent to local pet food pantries.

Mascot Naming Contest

WPL welcomes a new cat mascot, and the community is invited to help name it! From now until March 14, name submissions are open to everyone, with public voting on selected names from March 21-28. The winning name will be announced on March 31, and the winner will receive a cool prize.
